As the accounting manager of NRG Energy in Princeton, New Jersey, Andrew Muc holds responsibility for the monthly reconciliation of the company’s books. Andrew Muc also serves as an usher at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, a religious and cultural center for American Catholics of Polish descent. Located in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa recreates the original Our Lady’s Chapel in the Jasna Gora Monastery of Czestochowa, Poland. The shrine’s lower church features an image of the Black Madonna, an icon revered as a national symbol of Poland. Much of the Doylestown shrine has been renovated or newly constructed. Pilgrims and groups engaged in prayerful reflection can stay at the Retreat House, which includes 80 private rooms. The facility also features a meeting room that seats 50 and a devotional chapel. Outdoor Stations of the Cross serve as additional places of prayer. Additionally, the new Visitor Center provides another chapel, a 450-capacity cafeteria, a large meeting room, and an art exhibition hall. Souvenirs and gifts are available at the Religious Articles Center. Open to Catholics and non-Catholics, the shrine is operated by the religious order of the Pauline Brothers and Fathers.
