The recipient of a bachelor's degree in commerce and engineering/accounting from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Andrew Muc is a Certified Public Accountant and an accounting manager with Princeton, New Jersey's NRG Energy. Away from work, Andrew Muc is a fan of the Major League Baseball (MLB) Philadelphia Phillies. Prior to the 2018 season, the Phillies agreed to a six-year, $24 million contract with top prospect Scott Kingery. The contract includes three years of team options, which means the deal could be worth up to $66 million. Kingery’s contract was the largest ever awarded to an amateur drafted player who has yet to play in the majors. However, at the time, Kingery was hitting .392 with four home runs in spring training. Selected in the second round of the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft, the 23-year-old played second base in the minors and compiled a .304 batting average to go along with 26 home runs and 65 runs batted in (RBIs) last season in the Phillies' Triple-A and Double-A affiliates. Since making the Phillies, he has played shortstop, second base, third base, and right and left field, and has a .246 average at the plate through 17 games, with two home runs and 12 RBIs.

As accounting manager with NRG Energy, Inc., Andrew Muc coordinates the Princeton, New Jersey, company’s month-end closing process. An avid sports fan, Andrew Muc supports Philadelphia teams such as the Eagles and Phillies. As the 2018 season commenced in April, all eyes were on manager Gabe Kapler, who was booed in the home opening game following the team’s 1-4 start. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, a major issue centers on the team’s logjam of hitting talent, with first baseman Carlos Santana receiving a three-year contract during the offseason that puts him in direct contention with other stalwarts for time on the field. From a numerical standpoint, the Phillies have nine batters who should be in the everyday lineup and only seven slots open. With Santana, Hoskins, Herrera, and Hernandez veterans who have established their consistency over the years, five other players, including Scott Kingery, J.P. Crawford, and Aaron Altherr, need the playing time to demonstrate their abilities. With the team still finding its footing, these issues will need to be addressed to create the type of cohesion that leads to championships. |
