An avid sports fan, Andrew Muc counts the Philadelphia Phillies as his favorite Major League Baseball (MLB) team. The 2018 MLB season is just getting started, but the Phillies have already made a move to bolster the team's depth in the infield. In late April, the team agreed to a minor-league contract with veteran Trevor Plouffe, who was subsequently optioned to the team's Triple-A affiliate in Lehigh Valley. A first-round selection of the Minnesota Twins in the 2004 MLB Amateur Draft, Plouffe has played third base, shortstop, and first base throughout his eight-year big league career and has a .242 career batting average as well as 105 home runs and 376 runs batted in (RBI) through 823 career regular season games. The 31 year old split the 2017 season between the Oakland Athletics and Tampa Bay Rays and finished the year with a .198 batting average to go along with nine home runs and 19 RBIs. He's eligible to receive upwards of $1.5 million if he spends any time with the big league club in Philadelphia this season. The recipient of a bachelor's degree in commerce and engineering/accounting from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Andrew Muc is a Certified Public Accountant and an accounting manager with Princeton, New Jersey's NRG Energy. Away from work, Andrew Muc is a fan of the Major League Baseball (MLB) Philadelphia Phillies. Prior to the 2018 season, the Phillies agreed to a six-year, $24 million contract with top prospect Scott Kingery. The contract includes three years of team options, which means the deal could be worth up to $66 million. Kingery’s contract was the largest ever awarded to an amateur drafted player who has yet to play in the majors. However, at the time, Kingery was hitting .392 with four home runs in spring training. Selected in the second round of the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft, the 23-year-old played second base in the minors and compiled a .304 batting average to go along with 26 home runs and 65 runs batted in (RBIs) last season in the Phillies' Triple-A and Double-A affiliates. Since making the Phillies, he has played shortstop, second base, third base, and right and left field, and has a .246 average at the plate through 17 games, with two home runs and 12 RBIs. As accounting manager with NRG Energy, Inc., Andrew Muc coordinates the Princeton, New Jersey, company’s month-end closing process. An avid sports fan, Andrew Muc supports Philadelphia teams such as the Eagles and Phillies. As the 2018 season commenced in April, all eyes were on manager Gabe Kapler, who was booed in the home opening game following the team’s 1-4 start. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, a major issue centers on the team’s logjam of hitting talent, with first baseman Carlos Santana receiving a three-year contract during the offseason that puts him in direct contention with other stalwarts for time on the field. From a numerical standpoint, the Phillies have nine batters who should be in the everyday lineup and only seven slots open. With Santana, Hoskins, Herrera, and Hernandez veterans who have established their consistency over the years, five other players, including Scott Kingery, J.P. Crawford, and Aaron Altherr, need the playing time to demonstrate their abilities. With the team still finding its footing, these issues will need to be addressed to create the type of cohesion that leads to championships. A certified public accountant with more than two decades of experience, Andrew Muc has served as an accounting manager with NRG Energy in Princeton, New Jersey, since 2004. In his leisure time, Andrew Muc enjoys following Philadelphia-area professional sports teams and is an especially avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. The Philadelphia Eagles have recently had several stars play for the team who left their mark on the franchise. Quarterback Donovon McNabb is the team’s all-time leader in passing, for example, and LeSean McCoy holds the Eagles’ rushing record. However, there have been other players throughout the years whose contributions have gone unrecognized or whose performance has been severely underrated. Irving Fryar is one of those players. Fryar played wide receiver in the NFL for 17 seasons. Though only an Eagle for three years, he held the single-season record for catches (88) for more than a decade, until he was eclipsed in 2007 by Brian Westbrook. He followed up his 88-catch year with another season of 86 catches and currently ranks as the team’s #2 and #3 in terms of all-time, single-season receptions. A Certified Public Accountant, Andrew Muc has served as an accounting manager with Princeton, New Jersey's NRG Energy since 2004. Outside of his professional pursuits, Andrew Muc is a passionate fan of the National Football League's (NFL) Philadelphia Eagles. Despite losing its starting quarterback Carson Wentz to a knee injury in December, the Eagles defied all odds and won its first ever Super Bowl in February with a 41-33 victory over the New England Patriots. The star of the game for the Eagles was Wentz's replacement, Nick Foles, who completed 28 of 43 passes, three of which were touchdowns, for 373 yards and was named the game's Most Valuable Player. Foles threw what ended up being the game-winning touchdown to tight end Zach Ertz with just over two minutes remaining in the game. The score capped a 14-play, 75-yard drive and, more importantly, kept Patriots quarterback Tom Brady on the sidelines for seven minutes. Foles also caught a touchdown pass prior to halftime on a trick play that saw him receive a pass from tight end Trey Burton. In doing so, he became the first player in Super Bowl history to throw for and catch a touchdown pass. 2/13/2017 ANDREW MUC ON LIFE AROUNDÂ PHILADELPHIAAndrew Muc loves living in the Philadelphia area.
