Polish folk dances are at the heart of the Polish American Festival. Three of these traditional dances are described below. Mazur - The rhythm of this fast-paced dance is best known for its influence on the Polish pianist Chopin. The dance dates back to feudal times when it was performed by the peasantry. Kujawiak - This romantic dance is characterized by flowing and circular movements. Traditionally, the Kujawiak is reserved for the end of the party. Oberek - Oberek is a physical dance featuring jumps, spins, and forceful stomps. It is usually performed at a 3/8ths time signature, making it the fastest of all of Poland's national dances.
