An avid sports fan, Andrew Muc counts the Philadelphia Phillies as his favorite Major League Baseball (MLB) team. The 2018 MLB season is just getting started, but the Phillies have already made a move to bolster the team's depth in the infield. In late April, the team agreed to a minor-league contract with veteran Trevor Plouffe, who was subsequently optioned to the team's Triple-A affiliate in Lehigh Valley. A first-round selection of the Minnesota Twins in the 2004 MLB Amateur Draft, Plouffe has played third base, shortstop, and first base throughout his eight-year big league career and has a .242 career batting average as well as 105 home runs and 376 runs batted in (RBI) through 823 career regular season games. The 31 year old split the 2017 season between the Oakland Athletics and Tampa Bay Rays and finished the year with a .198 batting average to go along with nine home runs and 19 RBIs. He's eligible to receive upwards of $1.5 million if he spends any time with the big league club in Philadelphia this season. Comments are closed.
