A certified public accountant, Andrew Muc supports a number of Doylestown, Pennsylvania-area charities. Among these, he serves as a volunteer usher for the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, a major Catholic destination among Polish Americans.
As reported in the National Catholic Register, a family of four has established the John Paul II Project in Kraków, Poland. As part of this initiative, Joseph and Corinne MacDonald and their daughters recently traveled to the United States and brought along one of the saint’s relics, a piece of cloth with his blood on it. Supported by the archbishop emeritus of Kraków, the US relic tour had stops that included the Saint John Paul II National Shrine and the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, as well as the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa. Visitors to the relic spoke of a sense that John Paul II was “truly present amongst us,” and of feeling that they were heeding a call to follow in his footsteps and strive to become saints themselves.

He is an active member of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, a Catholic shrine that hosts the annual Polish American Family Festival and Country Fair, which attracts visitors from across the country. Polish folk dances are at the heart of the Polish American Festival. Three of these traditional dances are described below. Mazur - The rhythm of this fast-paced dance is best known for its influence on the Polish pianist Chopin. The dance dates back to feudal times when it was performed by the peasantry. Kujawiak - This romantic dance is characterized by flowing and circular movements. Traditionally, the Kujawiak is reserved for the end of the party. Oberek - Oberek is a physical dance featuring jumps, spins, and forceful stomps. It is usually performed at a 3/8ths time signature, making it the fastest of all of Poland's national dances. |
